With colors across the spectrum, nothing enhances a home like flowers. Classic rose or happy-go-lucky sunflowers; sensual lilies or peaceful hanging plants. No matter what your vibe, these are plants require zero maintenance.
Have an empty space you're looking to fill with the perfect piece? Creating a room that needs one more pop of color? New baby's nursery will be perfected with a precious yellow orchid. The guest bedroom with adorable white and black print wallpaper would be rounded out with a hint of green in a succulent drawing above the towels. That amazing bay window with all your favorite plants you never want to die could become immortalized.
Drawings are available as 8x10 prints either matted only so you can pick the frame that suits your space or can be completed with refurbished frames in the shabby-chic, farmhouse aesthetic. Light and neutral colors compliment the grays, tans and whites in your home for everything from your granite countertop, new washer and dryer in the laundry room, or the home office.
Botanical works are done in watercolor then outlined and enhanced with pen. Finished pieces and prints are framed in unique, rustic frames refurbished by the artist. Prints of all drawings are available matted or framed, as well as individual and sets of notecards.
I love drawing realistically. The closer I can get to exactly what I see and what it makes me feel, the more justice I feel I have done for the piece. Typically, I work from photos so that the lighting, proportions, and expressions of the subjects can come to life as the subject would without the disruptions of the day to day. This also lets me work regardless of distance - physical or temporal.
Historically, I have focused on realistic portraits of people in black and white mediums, such as pen, pencil, and charcoal. The portraits in my portfolio have accumulated through various personal concentration projects as well as commissioned pieces. In an effort to reach a wider audience and turn my passion into a business, I've switched gears to working with watercolor and pen and ink to draw plants and flowers. I love the endless subject matter and have found that it's impossible for me to pick a favorite.
Born and raised in Kirkwood, Missouri, I spent my first 18 years doing art with the support of my family, friends, and teachers. My mom, Cathy Johnson Gobberdiel, is an artist herself and there was many an afternoon she spent teaching my childhood friends and me how to draw what we were seeing from a still life she set up. I'm now finding myself following very closely in her footsteps as I pursue art as a full-time business.
From 2016 through half of 2021, I lived in Fort Collins, Colorado. In 2021, I relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee. This state offers amazing access to plenty of outdoor activities, and rock climbing is one of my favorite hobbies. It's an exciting time to be in a new city full of opportunities. Thank you all for your support of my art and visiting my webpage. Look forward to new projects coming up soon!
